University of Cranfield MSc Studentship in Design System for in-Vehicle Health Management, UK


Cranfield University’s IVHM Centre has an exciting research opportunity for a motivated graduate, to undertake research in design systems for vehicle health management.

IVHM is a pioneering centre of excellence with core partners Boeing, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Meggitt and Thales, MoD, Alstom Transport and EEDA. The Centre aims to enable the incorporation of IVHM technology into UK and global businesses; generating awareness of the benefits in business productivity, environmental impact, and vehicle performance.

This project is seeking a researcher to join the team currently working on the Centre’s Design System project. The successful applicant will work on consolidating the methods and toolsets used by the different industrial partners and develop a set of good practice, which will be tested through real life case studies.

This project is initially for one year. However, this could lead to a project extension or further training opportunities.

Technical Schools Research Students Training Programme

The successful candidate will attend Cranfield University’s ‘Technical Schools Research Students Training Programme’ which is designed to equip students with research skills required during their research studies and in their future careers. This programme consists of a series of one-day events, coupled with smaller interactive group sessions.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree in an engineering related discipline. A strong engineering background with a good understanding in condition based monitoring is desirable. Knowledge of signal processing, design methods and technical documentation would also be advantageous.

Funding

*Supported by Cranfield’s IVHM Centre this studentship will cover tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only. Non UK/EU students will have to pay the remainder of their tuition fees before commencing their studies. Applicants are also eligible for a bursary of up to £16,000 p.a. for one year dependent upon qualifications and experience.
