The ministry Uganda for Water and Environment has intensified efforts to counter environmental degradation and water pollution.

The State Minister for Water, Jennifer Namuyangu says many water bodies and wetlands in the country are being encroached on by immigrants, industrialists, settlers,  housing estates and waste disposal among others.

She however says the directorate of water resources management has embarked on a five year communication strategy in which they are to sensitize the public on conservation of the water sources through mass media campaigns and field outreach programs.

Launching the strategy in Kampala today, Namuyangu outlined the challenges that are still complicating their campaign, calling for more concerted efforts to tackle the problem of environment degradation.
