Ugandans will have the opportunity to watch the 2010 World Cup competition in South Africa on High Definition (HD) television according to the Multichoice president for Africa, Collins Khumalo.

The initiative will be a big boost to Ugandan soccer lovers since High definition television pictures are clearer than the ordinary digital television pictures.
Multichoice Africa is the mother company of DSTV a pay Television network operating in many African countries including Uganda.
Khumalo says in partnership with South African Super sport Television, DSTV will dedicate four channels to world cup and two channels will be showing in High definition.
With nine days left to the start of the competition, already six soccer teams Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Argentina, United States and North Korea have reported for the World cup in South Africa.
Speaking to journalists during the recently concluded Multichoice/CNN journalists awards held at Serena Hotel in Kampala, the Multichoice president also indicated that the company is moving to introduce mobile TV which has already been introduced in African countries of Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Namibia.
DSTV pay satellite television network has been in operation in Uganda for the last 15 years and more than 24 years on the African continent. Star times pay satellite television network has also opened shop in Uganda after the collapse of the UK based GTV.
