Uganda MPs call for execution of child sacrifice convicts


The Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Children has called for public executions of people convicted of child sacrifice so as to deter future incidents of child sacrifice.

The Secretary General of the Uganda parliamentary forum on children, Benson Obua told journalists at Uganda Parliament that the practice is widespread and needs serious remedies inform of heavy punishments.

Obua also called upon the entire Uganda public to join hands with the government and put up concerted efforts in fighting the practice so that success can be achieved.

The Woman Member of Parliament for Masindi, Jalia Bintu appealed to the government should put up with stricter measures than those in place.

Bintu called for a policy requiring every person to have a proper identification of every child they take care of like birth certificates to help track down people who move with children that do not belong to them.

On Monday 21st June 2010, a one and half year old boy from Kampala posh suburb of Bugolobi Khan Kakama was found dead dumped in a swamp in another Kampala suburb of Kamwokya. The child’s private parts were chopped off after even getting a ransom from Kakama’s parents.

Similar gruesome incidents of child sacrifice have been taking place in the country over the past years.
