The Executive Director of the Associations of Micro Finance Institutions, David Baguma has pledged to continue lobbying the Uganda Revenue Authority to scrap the taxes it imposes on the Micro Finance institutions or at least cut these taxes.

Baguma says that though so far the efforts to have this done have not generated any fruits, the association will continue lobbying URA. He says URA has so far shown good will to act on this request of the Microfinance institutions.

Baguma has said in the annual report of the association that URA needs to act on this request because even the government has recognized the fact that micro finance interventions are very key in reducing poverty levels in Uganda.

He says since these institutions are doing a positive job, the microfinance institutions  should be supported and one of the ways of supporting them is scrapping taxes on microfinance institutions.
