The long awaited East African Secondary School games are due in Nakuru, Kenya in August 2010. The two week long games will start on August 20.

The officer in charge of physical education in the ministry of Education and Sports, Hajarah Ddembe says the games will take place in third term, according to Uganda schools academic calendar.

According to the recent circular to all school head teachers in Uganda by the ministry of education and sports, term two will close on August 6, 2010 instead of August 13th as it had been programmed earlier.

It brings forward the reporting date for the third term to August 23 instead of September 6th, 2010.

The school head teachers say the abrupt changes that have been made in 2010 school calendar will affect Uganda’s performance at the East African Secondary School games.

The teachers say students will now have to decide to miss class lessons or the games. But Hajarah Ddembe says the officials of Uganda’s ministry of Education and Sports will soon meet and discuss the fate of student players who will participate in the Nakuru event.
