Bukwo reeling from effects of heavy rains that have worsened food security

President Museveni addressing rally at Bukwo

Heavy rains currently being experienced in Eastern Uganda have hampered the distribution of relief aid to Bukwo district.

According to Bukwo Woman MP, Tete Chelangat, the district has not received any food relief from the Office of the Prime Minister for the last two weeks, following a 2 year drought in the district.

Chelangat says that most of the bridges connecting other districts such as Sironko and Kapchorwa to Bukwo have been washed away by the floods, forcing the over 100,000 locals to access other districts through the neighboring Kenya.

The MP is now calling on the Ministry of Works to urgently repair the bridges as most of the Bukwo population is unable to access food.
