The Inspector General of Government Raphael Bakku has told journalists at Kampala that external assistance to candidates was realized to be through dictation of answers to candidates, writing of solutions on board for the people answering the examinations and using of sign language to pass on answers to those answering the examinations especially in objectives among others.

The study denotes that collusion or substitution of candidates’ accounts for about 6% of the examination malpractices similar to smuggling of reading material into examination rooms.

Impersonation is the least cause of examination malpractices in Uganda causing only about 1% of examination malpractices.

The office of the IGG after releasing this study came up with recommendations on how UNEB can improve the effectiveness with which it controls examination malpractices which recommendations UNEB welcomed and embraced.

Examination Malpractices not only water down the quality of education in the country but also directly affect candidates and their benefactors when some of their results are cancelled as a result of such malpractices. Worse still they inculcate the vice of corruption and degeneration of morals integrity and professional ethics in the current and future generations.
