The other artists that made to the top ten in the awards are A.Y from Tanzania, Bholoja from Swaziland, Ellie Kamano from Guinea- Conakry, Koppo from Cameroon, Lexus Leggal from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mao Otayeck from Ivory Coast,  Sandra Coddeiro from Angola, Smockey from Burkina Faso and Winyo from Kenya.

If Maurice Kirya wins the competition, he could get over 250 million shillings in prize cash and he has appealed to Ugandans and vote for him to win the competition.

He says on his facebook page “If I win this RFI competition, it will be the biggest exposure I have ever got and a chance to represent my country.I need your votes to make it through.”

Though a hugely internationally respected artiste, Maurice Kirya has found it hard to win hearts of many Ugandans with his kind of music that he prefers to call Mwoyo for its unique character.”
