PSFU to train Uganda farmers in agri- business and value addition

The Private Sector Foundation Uganda is set to focus on equipping famers with skills in agri-business and value addition focusing on agriculture financing and other policy issues that affect the sector in their Eastern Uganda Economic Empowerment week next month.

The will run from 23rd to 26th September under the theme “Land Management and value addition”.

The PSFU has said in a news statement that the objective of this week is to stimulate entrepreneurship and business growth in the agricultural sector which can mainly be through equipping farmers with skills in value addition.

The week will comprise of conferences, business clinics, exhibitions, presentations and discussions through which PSFU hopes to equip farmers with skills in agri-business and value addition.

The week is expected to take place at Maluku Grounds in Mbale is likely to attract over 10,000 famers from Eastern Uganda.

In the recent years there have been suggestions that agricultural policies in Uganda should shift from focus on agricultural extension but focus more on equipping farmers with skills in value addition.

It is expected that if this is done it will bigger role in enhancing the agricultural sector than simple focus on agricultural extension.
