  • The 5th Lake Victoria Triathlon takes place in Entebbe on 26th September 2010, organised by Activate Uganda Ltd.
  • It comprises: 1000m open water swim in Lake Victoria; 30km bicycle ride and finally a 10km run.
  • Collection of race numbers / timing chips starts at 6:00am and the race will start between 7:00 and 7:30am

INCREASING POPULARITY

  • The Lake Victoria Triathlon is an annual event that has been hosted in Entebbe since 2006. Every year it attracts an increasing number of participants. In 2009, 140 participants took part.
  • Triathlons are globally gaining more and more followers and the number of events that take place each year is increasing. Nowadays there are race distances on offer for all levels of fitness. These not only provide for exciting and challenging endurance races but triathletes appreciate the combination of three different exercise routines required to master the three sports. This combination offers an almost ideal workout routine for the entire body.
  • To date in Sub-Saharan Africa, apart from in countries like South Africa and Namibia, triathlons are still a rather exotic event. Yet with the Lake Victoria Triathlon, we are hoping to nurture this sport in Uganda. As the organiser, we are pleased that over the past years, the numbers have steadily increased and more and more Ugandans are taking a liking to this sport. The chosen routes for the Lake Victoria Triathlon are very scenic, provide great views over the lake and take the participants all around Entebbe.
