Besigye said this while addressing journalists after he was nominated to officially compete in the forthcoming 2010 Uganda general elections as a presidential Candidate.  The Presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on February 18th 2011.

Besigye who has twice competed and lost to President Museveni said the NRM government had lost a lot of support and many Ugandans want new leadership to spearhead the country to better times.

Besigye who is being backed by the Inter party Coalition, a loose political grouping of several opposition political parties said they are participating in the elections with hope the elections will be better organized and will reflect the will of Ugandans. He said the previous elections he participated in were rigged in favour of Museveni as ascertained by the Supreme Court in both the 2001 and 2006 Presidential elections.

The highest court in a narrow margin in both cases however said the rigging did not substantially affect the elections results of Besigye getting 27% in 2001 and 39% of the vote in 2006 respectively.

Besigye, a medical doctor who was a close ally and personal doctor of Museveni till the fall out in 2000 promised to bring about change that will ensure good government, respect and equality for all Ugandans.

He dismissed reports that political parties under the IPC have formed a coalition, instead saying they formed cooperation as political parties pushing for change of political leadership in Uganda.

The FDC leader was escorted by supporters led by FDC Chairman Sam Njuba who asked Ugandans to support Besigye and the inter party coalition to lead Uganda to better times.
