Nobert Mao arrives nominaton with wife Naome

The President General of the Democratic Party, Nobert Mao has been nominated to contest for President of Uganda in the 2011 general elections. Mao told reporters that he is the Barrack Obama of Uganda because he holds the best hope to unite and rebuild the country.

Mao said like USA President Obama, he is of mixed parentage, his mother coming from Ankole in south western Uganda, while his father is from Acholi in northern Uganda. Mao says this gives him a chance to be the best uniting factor in Uganda’s politics clouded with north-south divide.

He thanked the members of DP and his family for supporting him and said he is happy for offering himself for the post of president of Uganda.

Mao who is the LC 5 Chairman of Gulu district and s former firebrand MP criticized many of the party’s supporters who have yet to join the mainstream party saying they are looking for shortcuts to leadership. He says DP however welcomes back to the main party fold where they can together build the party to compete and win political power in Uganda.

Mao promised to focus on creating jobs for the youth, improving health and education as well as improving household incomes so that ordinary Ugandans can enjoy better life.

Mao who was nominated by for DP President John Ssebaana Kizito was also accompanied to the nominations by his wife Naome, and a strong team of D members including MPs, John Kawanga, Joseph Balikudembe, Mathias Nsubuga, and Jinja Mayor Kezaala.
