Embattled Hoima Mayor Francis Atugonza gets nominated for Municipality seat

The embattled Mayor of Hoima, Francis Atugonza has been nominated for Hoima mayorship under Forum for Democratic Change ticket.

Atugonza was nominated yesterday morning at around 10: 45 AM at the district electoral commission office.

His nomination was on Thursday suspended for reportedly failing to possess the required signatories on his nomination papers.

Accompanied by the Forum for democratic change supporters s flashing FDC signs and slogans, Atugonza was declared by the district retuning officer Erasmus Kimbowa as duly nominated for the Hoima Municipality Mayoral seat.

He will tussle it out with a female candidate Marry Mugasa who was nominated on Thursday under the NRM ticked.

After nomination, Atugonza pledged to promote his party interests and look for support to the patty president Col. Kiiza Besigye.

Among others candidates cleared are George Bagonza for LC5 on NRM ticked while FDC will field Dan Tumwesigye for the same post.

The nomination exercise for district chairpersons, councilors, mayors begun on Thursday and will end on Tuesday.

Close to 70 candidates have been nominated for various political posts in 2011 elections.
