St. Balikuddembe Owino market traders ask for government intervention over fires

The traders in St. Balikuddembe alias Owino market have said that government has failed to create spacious corridors in the market in order to allow the fire fighting brigade to extinguish fire break outs in the market.

Some traders who talked to Ultimate Media Consult on condition of anonymity said that leaders have failed to create enough spaces in the market due to political reason s.

The traders were reacting to the fire outbreak that gutted the market on Sunday, following another fire on Wednesday, less than a week.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Kampala Central MP. Erias Lukwago has asked the Ministry of Disaster preparedness not only to concentrate on floods and landslide but also to assist traders who lose merchandise are lost in fire outbreaks.
