The ADF were driven out of western Uganda after the violent campaign in late 1990s but the rebel group instead started regrouping in eastern Democratic Republic Congo.

The president says the army is on full alert and will defeat any attack from the ADF rebels if they are really reorganising to resume attacks.

He was speaking in Bundibugyo where he addressed rallies on his campaign trail to retain the Presidency of Uganda as Uganda prepares to vote for President and other leaders.

Last year in November, the United Nations experts reported that a London based Moslem cleric Jamil Mukulu was funding the group estimated to 600 fighters to fight the government of Uganda.

Uganda is set to start oil production in the mid western Albertine region which neighbours the DRC where the ADF used to operate from.
