Sugar Corporation of Uganda SCOUL decries sugarcane theft

Sugar Corporation of Uganda Ltd. (SCOUL) has decried the increasing theft of their sugarcanes by other sugar factories in Lugazi

The SCOUL Human Resource Manager James Zikusoka says they have registered tremendously reduction of sugarcanes both in stores and gardens daily due to the sugarcane lorry drivers who channel the canes to other factories.

Zikusoka who mounted a move to investigate the cause of sugarcanes reduction using the factory police says that some lorry drivers have absconded from duty due the fear of getting arrested and this has indicated that their sugarcanes have been sold to other factories by the drivers.

SCOUL management has warned the small factories in Lugazi which cannot have their own raw materials to stop using stolen sugarcanes or else stop operating.

Sugar Corporation of Uganda Ltd. is one of the Uganda sugar exporters with sugarcane farms in the districts of Mukono, Kayunga and Buyikwe.
