Electoral Commission is ready for 2011 Uganda elections

The Chairman Electoral Commission Eng. Badru Kiggundu has said that he is ready to conduct the elections on Friday 18th this month.

While addressing the media in Kampala, the confidently talking Kiggundu said that even if elections were held today he is ready to conduct them.

Kiggundu has promised to produce the results in 48 hours as stipulated in the constitution without any difficulty.

He says that everything is in place they are just waiting for the day of dispatching the electoral material.

He has urged the media to exercise their professional ethics and common sense in covering and reporting the results of the elections on 18th.

Kiggundu has encouraged anyone to announce results so long as they get information from the presiding officers, and observe the fact that the work of ascertaining and declaring the winner should be solely left to the Electoral Commission.
