The Chairman LC5 Daniel Kikola says that the situation has gone out of hand when the NGO that has been supplying free ARVs suspended the service due to reduced funding from their donors.

Kalangala which is an island district in Lake Victoria is said to be having many people infected with HIV because of prostitution and the belief by many fishermen that they don’t need to protect themselves from HIV since they may die anytime on waters while fishing.

Kikola has asked government to consider Kalangala district as a special area that needs attention on matters of health and HIV/AIDS in particular.
