Uganda receives ultimatum from Commonwealth Lawyers for illegal detention of Amin Kimathi

The government of Uganda has received an ultimatum from the Commonwealth Lawyers directing the state of Uganda to make an immediate release of a Kenyan rights activist Al Amin Kimathi who was detained in Uganda in September 2010.

The 17th Commonwealth Law meeting that sat in Hyderabad India early this month resolved that the government of Uganda releases Kimathi immediately with compensation and make a public apology for the arbitrary treatment.

The document written by the layers indicate that Kimathi was arrested together with Mbugua Mureithi a Kenyan court advocate but Mureithi was released.

The association of the Commonwealth lawyers however not indicated the remedy they will take if the State of Uganda does not release Kimathi.
