Gulu RDC Walter Ochora

Ochora, 54, was the Resident District Commissioner of Gulu, and before that Chairman LC5 of Gulu district. He was very instrumental in the Juba Peace talks between the government and the Lords Resistance Army rebels.

Col. Ochora a former rebel that later joined the NRM government is remembered for having announced the takeover of government in the 1985 coup that ousted the Obote II UPC government.

Col. Ochora was over the past years the leading if not lone voice in support of the current National Resistance Movement government but he slowly and consistently garnered it support especially after the return of peace in northern Uganda which had suffered war for more than 20 years.

The government was by the time of filing the story yet to issue a formal condolence message, while details of burial arrangements were not readily available.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
