Buturo told Journalists in Kampala today that as the minister of ethics he cannot hold the office illegally.

In January 2011, the constitutional court ruled that MPs who contested on political parties than the ones that brought them to parliament did so illegally and should lose their seats in Parliament.

The Attorney General Prof. Kiddu Makubuya in his legal advice said all the 9 ministers affected by the Court ruling should relinquish their position since they were appointed Ministers based on their being Members of Parliament.

Minister Buturo lost the NRM primaries Bufumbira East seat but decided to compete in the national elections as MP for the same seat. He lost the election to the NRM candidate.

Buturo conceded that he was affected by the court ruling therefore he can not stick in office illegally and he asks the rest of the eight ministers who are also affected to follow suit.

He says that he was appointed a minister in dignity and he has decided to leave the office in dignity without waiting to be pushed.
