Tom Lule, a UNBS Surveillance Officer says many fuel stations are selling adulterated fuel while others dispense less quantity of fuel than the customer pays for.

Lule was speaking on Sunday during a crack down campaign on some fuel stations in Kampala to determine whether they are selling the right fuel to customers.

He says some fuel stations in Kyengera were found to be selling fuel mixed with some water or paraffin, while other had tampered with their fuel gauges in order to cheat customers.

John Kyazze, the Head of Surveillance at UNBS said they had ordered such fuel stations to suspend sales until they clean up their act. He told journalists that the UNBS operation will be rolled out countrywide to ensure people are not cheated when they buy fuel.
