Youth Minister Alupo appeals over walk to work protests

As the walk-to-work campaign continues tomorrow, state minister youths Lt. Jessica Alupo has asked the youths to shun Besigye protests.

Many youth have no jobs

The minister made the call yesterday while meeting youths leaders across the country under their National Youth Council whom she told to shun Besigye’s protests.

Citing the current political situation in the country, Alupo noted that Youths can easily be manipulated and therefore warned them to avoid manipulation by some people and political parties.

She wondered why in the ongoing riots she has not seen old men holding logs, sticks, burning tyres etc but only youths and therefore urged youths to shun such protests.

She however, said unemployment, HIV/AIDS and illiteracy among youths are still a challenge to the youths and government to find a solution.

Alupo says the youths in the country have multiple challenges which can be overcome by teamwork, building strategic partnerships and ensuring that adequate resources are provided.
