MP Ekanya asks government to reduce swearing-in budget

The Tororo County Member of Parliament Geoffrey Ekanya  has asked government to reduce tremendously the budget that had been made for president Museveni’s swearing ceremony of May 12.

Ekanya (Forum for Democratic Change-FDC) says that the government had asked parliament to approve the budget of 3 billion shillings with a mind of hosting over 30 heads of states for the function.

Ekanya adds that the budget should proportionately be reduced to cater for the only 7 heads of state the government has confirmed as the only ones to attend the function.

The MP says that government should avoid the CHOGM scandals where politicians and other civil servants profiteered from the event
