Inter-religious council asks government to explain high prices in food and fuel in Uganda

The inter-Religious council has asked the government to come-up clearly and explain the exact causes of food and fuel prices in the country and come up with possible remedies.

While chairing a two day Post-Election conference at Hotel African, the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje says it’s not enough for the government to blame external forces.

In a related development the former Minister for Ethics and Integrity Maria Matembe accused the prime minister Prof. Appolo Nsibabi of using arrogant language during his massage that was read on his behalf saying he has failed to respond to the public concerns and demands.

In his speech read by Acting Ethics and Integrity minister James Baba, Nsibambi says the opposition had conceded defeat in the just concluded elections of February because they never went to court, and should therefore not be leading anti government protests.

Matembe has advised Nsibambi and the government to instead listen and work on the public demands raised by the walk to work protesters, who are demonstrating againt the high cost of living.
