Corruption still a big challenge in the Health Sector

Corruption in Uganda still remains a big challenge in all sectors including Health especially in recruiting Health workers.

During the launch of the report on transparency and accountability in the health sector, Budadili west Member of parliament Nandala Mafabi noted that a hospital of about 100 patients employs only five workers because the management was to recruit people on whom they know.

He says there are business graduates who are all over the streets and yet can be employed to balance the books of accounts but due to lack of transparency, civil society organization don’t want to employ them.

Mafabi blamed this incompetence of learning institutions and government failure to fight corruption. He however advocates for improved salaries for better service delivery in the country.

The reported noted that hospitals and other health institutions do not receive adequate funding to hire and facilitate enough workers to offer effective health services.
