Uganda 9th Parliament swearing-in exercise kicks off

The swearing-in for the Uganda’s Members of Parliament of the 9th Parliament  kicked off today,May 16 and it is expected to take 3 days.

A total of 125 Members of Parliament have been sworn in today. The Members Parliament on the today’s swearing–in list have been accompanied by a group of supporters, though each Member of Parliament has been allowed only five supporters to enter the podium as they take the oath.

The swearing has been presided over by the Clerk to Parliament at the parliamentary building in Kampala.

The 9th parliament will contain 375 legislators a number greater than that of the 8th parliament which had 332 Members of Parliament
