Elizabeth Nabatanzi contests Rebecca Lukwago victory

A candidate who sued the EC after losing the Luweero district Woman MP Seat Elizabeth Nabatanzi has stressed the fact that she cannot withdraw a petition against her fellow losers saying they also benefited from the alleged malpractice that marred the electoral process in the area.

During an interview, Nabatanzi said she will not engage any legal officer to help her out since she has other issues to raise in the battle between her and Rebecca Lukwago who won the elections.

Nabatanzi says the battle is partly socially motivated as she claims Nalwanga is in relationship with one Lugudde Katwe, Nabatanzi’s married husband.

Two weeks ago, Justice Benjamin Kabiito of the high court advised Nabatanzi to get a lawyer to help her out and also withdraw a petition against her fellow losers for fear of increase in costs incase she loses the petition.

Apart from the EC, Nabatanzi sued Nalwanga and Anna Kirabo Asimwe and Elsie Namagembe.

She claims the trio used to call her mad, a spy of President Museveni and also one who evicts people from land.

She also accuses them for bribing voters and rigging votes and blames the EC for neglecting its duty of ensuring free and fair elections.

She now wants court to nullify the said election and declare her unopposed or else compel the EC to conduct fresh elections.

Hearing the petition is expected to commence on Friday before the high court in Luweero.
