The former Minister for Karamoja affairs and first lady of Uganda Janet Kataha Museveni says that the issue of food in Karamoja region is going to be on of her major targets in the coming 5 yrs if she retains the same post.

Addressing the press after her swearing in as MP for Ruhama County in Ntungamo district, Mrs. Museveni said that increased food production and availability are going to be her major areas of focus.

She says that she would like to ensure that the people of Karamoja produce their own food instead of looking to the Government for their food needs.

Mrs. Museveni has been among the many MPs that have taken their oaths on Tuesday. She was escorted to the swearing by her husband President Yoweri Musevemni among other people.

The swearing in ceremony will end on Wednesday followed by the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker on Thursday in a function that will be presided over by the Chief Justice of Uganda Benjamin Odoki.
