Military cracks down on Lubigi wetland encroachers

The government has resorted to use military force to evict a group of people who have illegally settled in Lubigi wetland to construct a market.

Police has sealed of the market and no vendor is allowed to get to the market.

The chairperson of the vendors Lubwama Richard says he has been saddened to see police in the area early morning condoning off the place where they had constructed structures to carry on with their businesses.

The angry vendors are calling on IGP to recall his officers from the place saying they have no intension of grabbing the land but want to avail themselves with jobs than moving on streets rioting.

The vendors claiming to be veterans pin the water minister, Maria Mutagamba for not caring about natural resources and being corrupted by rich men to sell off wetlands to pave way for the construction of big malls and industries around town.
