Uganda government in fuel business deal with Southern Sudan

The government of Uganda is in negotiations with its Southern Sudan counterpart over fuel supply from the Southern Sudan government.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development Permanent Secretary, Fred Kabagambe confirms the negotiations and says a team of technocrats are currently in Juba to discuss the fuel business.

Kabagambe has told journalists that government wants to find a way of importing petroleum products on reasonably cheaper prices. He adds that sources have told the ministry that Southern Sudan would provide cheaper fuel than Mombassa-Kenya, the current supplier.

The development has come about after the members of the opposition have exerted a one month violent pressure on government to address the problem of high prices of fuel and other commodities.
