A police commander suspended for allowing journalists accessibility to Dr. Bsegye

The inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura has sacked another high-ranked police officer over the walk to work protests that were at their apex in April.

Kale Kaihura told that journalists in Kampala that the Operation Commander (OC) of Kasangati Police station, David Collin Mukette has been suspended for allowing the journalists to access the home of the main opposition leader retired Col Dr. Kiiza Besigye in Kasangati.

Kayihura clarified that Makette has been sacked for neglect of duty and failing to take orders from his superiors. He added that in security forces anyone failing to take orders is liable for discontinuation because they put government at risk.

The home of the Forum for Democratic Change president, Dr. Besigye has been put under surveillance by security personnel to ensure journalists do not interact with him or he does not get out to excite and incite his supporters into protests. Journalists have been using shortcuts to see Besigye.

Some of the security officers who have also been suspended or transferred due to Besigye’s walk to work protests are Francis Rwego who allegedly failed to control Besigye’s procession from Entebbe on May 12 and Lt. Col Michael Kabango transferred over the same reason.
