Museveni disregards donors

President Museveni has disregarded the donors’ appeal asking him not to reappoint ministers who have been involved in corruption cases.

While at the meeting between the ambassadors accredited to Uganda and President Museveni at State House two weeks ago, the envoys asked the President not to include former ministers who have been involved in corruption scandals to his ministerial squad.

Surprisingly, on May 24, at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) caucus at State House in Entebbe, the President announced Amama Mbabazi as the new Prime Minister replacing Prof. Apollo Nsibambi.

Mbabazi has been involved in two aggravated corruption cases, the first being the CHOGM fund misappropriation where billions of money have remained unaccounted for and the second being the Temangalo land saga. In the Temangalo land saga it is alleged that Mbabazi used his political influence to sell the land to government (NSSF) at exorbitant price to satisfy his insatiability.

The Ugandans who thought that the President was answering the donors’ appeal to replace the outgoing Vice President, Gilbert Bukenya with Edward Sekandi, are dismayed with Mbabazi promotion who is equally corrupt.
