This followed police issuing a warning to leaders of opposition political parties of what they say are specific threats by the Somalia-based al-Shabaab terrorists to assassinate Uganda opposition leaders.

The FDC spokesman Wafula Oguttu said today that the police warning over the Alshabab is intended to scare the opposition and Dr. kiiza Besigye so that they do not engage in political activities in the country.

He said that the police should provide security to all the people instead of focusing only on the opposition members’ security.

Police had also  said that  in the event that the opposition politicians cannot afford extra security measures, the Force was ready and willing to provide police security to man their homes, offices and for escort purposes.
