Opposition against splitting of Kasese district

The leaders of the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change in Kasese district have petitioned the office of the Chairman LC 5 rejecting the pending split of the district into three administrative units.

Led by their party chairman Saulo Maate, the FDC leaders delivered a document signed by thirty people including district councilors to the district chairman Rtd Lt.Col Mawa Muhindo calling for further consultations before splitting the district.

On October 26th 2010, the district council passed a motion seeking the split of Kasese district into three namely, Rwenzori, Kasese and Bwera districts.

The FDC leaders and members challenge council for have ignoring the advice of the minister of Local Government and the opinions of the opposition councilors and the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma.

The FDC leaders recommend that a sensitization programme be conducted with a view of creating awareness about the likely benefits as regards splitting the district.
