Youth activist petition parliament over increase in MPs pay and car benefit

A group of youth activist for change is planning to petition parliament to hand over a proposal by MPs to increase their pay.

The parliamentarians who have just been sworn in two weeks ago have reportedly recommended an increment in their pay from 15million shillings to 19 million shillings and to receive 192 million shillings interest free to pay for their vehicles.

Youth including the opposition supporters and civil activists plan to match to parliament and hand over their document to the leader of opposition Nandala Mafabi condemning the proposals as misuse of tax payers’ money.

Security has been beefed around the parliament area. The Coordinator of A4C Mathias Mpuga who is also the Member of Parliament for Masaka Municipality has supported the petition.
