Health workers on strike over unpaid allowances

More than 20 health workers of Atyak health centre IV in Amuru district have lay down their tools sighting among other things by government failure to pay their hard to reach allowances.

They also demand staff identification card (IDs), uniforms, and hospital Ambulance for their health centre. The health workers strike follows another where 7 casual laborer who abandoned work earlier this year over failure by the health centre to pay their salaries.

The health staff who did not what to be identified for fear of being victimized spoke journalist in Lira said they would not resume work until their demands are met.

Amure the Chief executive Officer Martin Kisule has however asked them to resume work as their hard reach allowances are being worked on.

On the IDs, uniform and Ambulance, Kisule says his office will meet with district health officials for intervention.
