East African community countries asked to strengthen on corruption fight

The Deputy Secretary General of East African community has challenged member states to strengthen the fight of corruption in their respective countries.

Beatrice Kiraso who is in charge of EAC political integration says corruption has retarded growth not only in the region but also as African continent as whole calling for consorted effort to curb the deviance.

She says corruption has undermined the efforts of integration and will also undermine the benefits of the East Africa integration. She added that no investor is willing to come to any country of East African community where money meant for the majority of the people end up in the hands of the few people for their own personal interest.

Kirasao has therefore called member states to ensure transparency and accountability are taken to be the major key concepts in all offices of their jurisdiction.
