Makerere University expects pro education improvement in national budget

Makerere University expects the national budget of 2011/2012 to consider improving the quality of education in the country.

The University Vice Chancellor Prof. Venasius Baryamureeba says this time the Government should put much emphasis on quality education in order to have better development in the country.

On Wednesday, the national budget is expected to be read after the state of the Nation address of the President on Tuesday.

Other East African countries are equally expected to have their budgets read out this week.

Baryamureeba notes that that during the last budget reading, the Government committed itself to improving the education system in the country, a thing that is not yet realized to date.

Makerere is one of the public universities in Uganda and benefits from government funding.
