Opposition protesters intercepted in Rubirizi district

Police in Rubirizi district has this morning intercept a planned demonstration by the opposition Forum for democratic change party members against the hiking commodity prices and police brutality.

Security personnel comprised of Police, army and plain closed officers blocked all roads leading to Ndekye secondary school play ground where the demonstration was scheduled to take place.

Magezi Moses the Rubirizi district FDC party chairperson who condemned police’s acts says that it’s a constitutional right for any Ugandan to demonstrate and a duty of police to offer security but not to put at risk the lives of Ugandans.

Moses says that arrangements for fresh demonstrations on Saturday are underway as per the directive from the party president Col Kiiza Besigye to continue with the demonstrations.
