Workers threaten to sue Jinja labour officer

Former workers of Friend’s restaurant in Jinja have threatened to sue Jinja labour office to the Uganda human rights commission for unfair treatment.

Joy Mulindo and vector Mahoha together with 11 staff members were sacked by their employer last month. They filed a cases against the management of two Friend’s restaurant with Jinja labour office for unfair dismissal.

They also accuse the management of the restaurant of failing to pay their April salary and non- remittance of their NSSF monthly contribution.

Agnes Musiguzi former cashier says they all together demand about 3.2 million shillings. She however says that their attempt to redress from the Jinja labour office has not yielded positive results.

Dianna Elasibatisi the resident director of two friends’ restaurant of the affected staff when asked to have a comment she declined on the matter.

Alice Tibyala jinja senior labour officer administered the affected workers launched their complaint to their office but declined to diverge further details.
