Corruption cited in NAADS demonstration farm in Mayuge district

The public accounts committee in Mayuge district is investigating the circumstance under which 2 million shillings went missing for the establishment of a central demonstration farm.

The money was sent to the district in 2010 under the NAADS program to setup a modern central banana demonstration farm to teach farmers modern technologies of growing banana.

But last week a report released by the district internal auditor’s office indicated that there is no money that was released for the construction of the demonstration farm.

The money was expected to purchase 400 country banana seedlings, three rolls of barbed wire, 150 poles and 4 kilograms of facing nails.

According to the report by the chief internal auditors Suleiman Nantyaba says there is no evidence that the items were either procured of delivered for the intended goal.

The district PAC chaired by Muyungo Koboda seat last week and comforted that there is actually no value for the said monies. They resolved to investigate the circumstance under which the program was quashed.
