Uganda Primary teachers colleges close due to lack of funding

Four primary teachers colleges in the western nile region have closed due to lack of funding.

The authorities say the ministry of education has not yet send them funds to run the colleges.
The students affected by the sudden closer are from Arua core PTC, Nandonga PTC in Yumbe, Paidah in Zombe district and Erepi PTC in Moyo district.

Gesa Kabasa the principal Arua core PTC says they receive 1800 shillings per student daily and this money has not been remitted to the colleges account since the college opened for the second term.

He says the college can’t continue to sustain the students without money. As the students return home there is growing concern that this may affect the performance of the students and the completion the syllabus.

Most students at Arua core PTC looked disappointed as they returned home on Tuesday.
Emmanuel Nsubuga the colleges’ guild president said government should prioritize funding for the PTCs.
