Vice president Edward Sekandi clarifies over storming out of Masaka court

The office of the vice president has clarified on media reports that have been published by some media houses alleging that the vice president stormed out of Masaka court were the petition challenging his re-election was being heard.

A statement issued on Wednesday says prior to the open court session, all parties including the petition respondents and their lawyers met in the judge’s chambers to discuss how to handle the petition.

It was mutually agreed by all parties that it was not necessary for the vice president to personally continue attending court as he had argent official business to attend too.

However it was left at his own decision as when to leave. Following misunderstandings the vice president attended the initial hearing and later left for Kampala for argent official arguments.

No member of the vice president security details entered the court room with him while armed. If there were any armed personnel in court, they were definitely not part of the vice president security as it is alleged.

To impute therefore the vice walked out of the court, in protest, is simply a malicious allegation intended to undermined the person who advises the president who holds the countries judicial system in high regard and whose truck record as a law a biding citizen need not to be ever emphasized.
