President Museveni’s zero-tolerance of corruption in action

Since the mention of zero-tolerance of graft by President Museveni during the campaigns that made him retain the presidency in the February 18 elections, many government departments and individuals have faced intensive investigations.

The government departments currently under investigation are among others the Uganda Wildlife Authority, National Forestry Authority, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, health department and Microfinance Support Center Limited.

The individuals are the former Vice Presidents, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya and the former NSSF boss David Jamwa Chandi to mention.

For the Microfinance Support Center Limited (MSC) the most recent company under investigation, the Inspectorate of Government has ordered for the suspension of the former Uganda Vice President, Specioza Kazibwe the board chairperson of MSC and the acting Executive Director, Iggy Rwabukuku  as investigations go on.

The document written by the Inspector General of Government, Raphael Baku has indicated that Kazibwe has mismanaged the businesses of the company.

Kazibwe who was in a financial scandal for embezzling the valley dams funds when she was still the Vice President is again alleged to have defrauded the MSC through overpaying herself and allocating money to foreign trips which are not effected among others.

The acting Executive Director, Iggy Rwabukuku is accused for suspending the company secretary Dorcas Angom and the Manager of Legal Services, Mariam Ndibuuza without following the guidelines in the Human Resource Manual.

During his state-of-the-nation address the President warned the newly appointed ministers and other public servants over corruption saying that any one who will be involved in the vice will be prosecuted and dismissed.
