Stephen Kagwera urges Ugandans to embrace commercial agriculture

The chairperson of the agriculture committee of parliament and Member of Parliament for Burahya county, Stephen Kagwera has advised Ugandans to practice agriculture as a business as a way of fighting poverty.

Kagwera says that the agriculture sector in Uganda aims at fighting poverty, famine, creating job opportunities and to add value on Uganda’s produce.

He however notes that despite the heavy financial input in the agricultural sector, government has not yet realized its goals.

He explains that this is because the Ugandan government has not yet put strict laws on a agriculture and that some agriculture extension workers have not performed their duties fully.
