East Africa governments urged to curtail acquisition of fire arms

Eastern Africa action network on small arms has listed easy accessibility to small arms and ammunition as the leading contributor to death by gun violence.

In this call the Uganda Action network on small arms on this issue warned against gun violence and misuse of ammunition in the world.

Addressing journalists during the launch of the global week against small arms in Kampala the executive secretary Eastern African Action networker of small arms Richard Mugisha said there is need to curb the illegal entry of small arms in the country if peace is to prevail in the country.

Mugisha says government doesn’t know the percentage number of small fire arms in currently in circulation something Mugisha said put the lives of most African people in danger.

Mugisha is calling on governments in the East African region to strengthen policies governing the acquisition of fire arms.
