African leaders to receive update as NEPAD marks its 10th Anniversary

New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) session will be held on the 29thth of June in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, under the theme ‘mobilising domestic resources for NEPAD implementation’.

The 25th HSGOC will convene a special commemorative session to mark the 10th Anniversary of NEPAD. It is in this regard that the Chief Executive Officer of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency), Dr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, will deliver a key statement on ‘NEPAD – the Journey So Far’ through which he will also update African leaders on the steady progress being made by the NEPAD Agency in the implementation of the NEPAD programme in areas such as agriculture and infrastructure.

During his engagements, Dr. Mayaki will hold strategic briefing sessions, in Malabo, with key African leaders and policy makers including the Chairpersons of the AU, HSGOC and the AU Commission, as well as Heads of Regional bodies and International Agencies on the continued support for NEPAD implementation.

Dr. Mayaki will also hold a press conference that is scheduled for the afternoon of the 29th of June on the outcomes of the HSGOC, the progress being made by NEPAD and how the media can participate in the 10th Anniversary of NEPAD.

The HSGOC engagements will come a day before the start of the 17th African Union Assembly, June 30th – July 1, and will also be preceded by the 42nd NEPAD Steering Committee which will be held on the 25th of June.
