High Court suspends James Kakooza suit against Parliament

The Kampala High court has declined to grant an application in which Hon James Kakooza was challenging the decision of the Parliamentary appointments committee in failing to avail him with its vetting decision on his ministerial appointment.

In his ruling, Justice Eldard Mwangutsya has advised Kakooza to wait and hear from the President who may appeal to the house over the outcome of his vetting.

The Judge added that court will not interfere in the process of Kakooza’s appointment or the workings of the Parliament unless when Parliament performs any constitutional actions.

Kakooza dragged to court the said committee and the attorney general seeking for court orders to compel the committee avail him with the decision regarding his appointment as health minister I charge of primary health care.

Kakooza claims that he was nominated by the President and duly appeared before the committee for vetting.

He says since then, he does not know his fate and continues to read from the press that his nomination was not successful.

He adds that he has reminded the committee twice to communicate to him its decision but in vain and thus his nomination continues to be in a balance.
